At Lewis Interiors, we pride ourselves in the quality craftsmanship that is showcased in each of our custom pieces. Our Mid Century Modern inspired designs are timeless and classic. Each piece of our Classic Collection furniture line is handcrafted personally by owners, Ted & John Lewis. The quality of construction and materials is unmatched in the world of new furniture building. After a decade of experience running a full-service upholstery shop, we have seen everything (literally!). Most consumers would be disappointed to know what lies under the fabric of their furniture. The truth is that cardboard and/or MDF is the norm, which is why the lifespan of most new furniture is only about two years. We offer time-tested QUALITY. We build using Scandinavian design concepts and honor the craftsmanship of true MCM furniture. You can see and feel the difference!
5 POINTS OF QUALITY you will find in our handcrafted pieces:
1- Lewis Interiors uses 1 3/4” thick Arizona White Oak or Ash hardwood. All joints are secured using the Domino and glue jointing technique. Our furniture is built heavy to the floor for a solid foundation to ensure the test of time. An average MCM leg is approximately 1 inch. The extra thickness in our wood adds to the stability and durability of our furniture.
2- Lewis Interiors pads all of our hardwood frames with 3.5 lb. per sq inch high-density foam. This guarantees a tight fit and quick lift of the fabric. The backs and seats of our furniture are padded with 2.5 lb per sq inch high-density foam. This ensures a relaxing yet supporting comfort. This is far superior quality than you will find inside most furniture.
3- Lewis Interiors uses a “360 upholstery” approach on all of our products. Meaning, we use the same fabric for the decks and the bottom dustcovers of our furniture. Most furniture companies use a lesser quality fabric on certain parts of their furniture to save costs. We don’t cut any corners!
4- Lewis Interiors uses a modular design for our furniture. Meaning, our furniture is pieced together in segments rather than a uni-body design. This ensures a perfect fit and straight upholstery. The modular design method allows for a more structurally sound and durable design.
5- Lewis Interiors has specific maker’s marks on all of our custom handcrafted furniture. Our Lewis Interiors brand is burned into the bottom of our frames. Our Lewis Interiors labels are sewn into our cushions. You will know FOR SURE if you have a Lewis Interiors quality piece. No guess work!
