The Definition of Vintage
What classifies an item as the definition of vintage, anyway?
For listing purposes, at Lewis Interiors we consider anything that is not being currently made, produced, or in production at the present time "vintage". This means that even if something was made last year - and is not being made this year - it will be considered the definition of vintage for listing and searching purposes.
Discontinued items become hard to find, and can be categorized as such - as long as you are representing the item to the best of your ability. It is important to add as much information as possible when listing items in an online platform, such as mentioning the year, model, and condition if possible. There are usually no discrepancies between the buyer and seller if as much information as possible is disclosed.
While we could pontificate on what the "true" definition of vintage is, and we all certainly have our own opinions, this is our working definition when listing our items on various eCommerce platforms. Check out our eBay store for lots of vintage items!
Scandinavian Furniture Design
After many years of refurbishing and reupholstering furniture in our full-service upholstery shop, the clean lines and quality build of Scandinavian furniture design has greatly influenced the vision for our own exclusive Classic Collection furniture.
We build our Scandinavian style furniture with time-tested methods. All of our internal framing is made from premium sustainable and solid kiln-dried hardwood. This is something you won't find with most new Scandinavian style furniture. All of our pieces are precisely joined by glue, dominoes, and pocket screws - then sanded and smoothed of sharp edges. Our bases are built using a single 4/8 slab of Arizona White oak, ensuring that you have an even and deep wood grain. They are then tightly joined with thick dominoes and glue.
Our seats and backs are tight woven with high quality Eco-friendly jute web, which provides a seat that is comfortable and ergonomic. This is achieved without the sinking and slouching that can happen with traditional box spring designs.
Our textural, durable tweed alongside the warmth of our hard oak bases and arm plates are commonly inspired by nature and the Nordic climate - Producing our Nordic-inspired colors of Oatmeal, Bright Blue and Gray. However, in some homes, brighter modern pops of colors are preferred, like our Mustard Seed, Rust Orange, and Teal Green.
In the tradition of the great Scandinavian furniture design pioneers, we prefer a minimalistic, clean design with an attention to detail. All of our furniture is built using quality materials by master craftsmen in a small workshop. All of our furniture is personally handcrafted by our owners, Ted & John Lewis. No outsourcing or cheap labor here. Made proudly in the USA, using only the best time-tested construction methods!
Quadraphonic Sound System
A Quadraphonic sound system is basically the original form of surround sound. It was developed in the 1970s. You can experience a true quadraphonic sound system by utilizing a quadraphonic compatible amplifier and four speakers located in each corner of the room. You can also achieve this effect by using true quadraphonic headphones. While you can play any type of media on a quadraphonic system, the only way to achieve true quadraphonic sound is by using quadraphonic recorded media, such as vintage cassette tapes and vinyl records. This is a very unique way of enjoying your vintage music, and those who do so swear by its superior quality even in the face of today's digital music revolution. Lewis Interiors is proud to be your quadraphonic sound source, and we always have several quadraphonic records available in the Vinyl Records category of our eBay store!
